SENSITIVITY: The number one value that brings clarity and balance
Want to know the number one value that brings balance and clarity to my life and business: It’s my SENSITIVITY.
I define sensitivity as an awareness of the information received by all my senses and responding to my nervous system to have meaningful intimacy with myself, a clear perception of others and to feel my environment.
Being sensitive to my own nervous system means I know when I have energy to create and contribute and when it is time to retreat and relax.
Sensitivity can be a super power not a burden if you are AWARE and ATTUNED to your sensitivity and respond to your body’s needs and boundaries. Overriding your sensitivity can lead to injury, exhaustion, overwhelm and resentment.
To be honest when I tried to write this blog I was feeling my body and spirit overwhelmed from two nights in a hotel where I did not sleep well, hours of driving plus listening to a distressing story on a podcast during the journey back home. For a couple of hours I attempted to write but felt uninspired, flat and disappointed. I really needed a taste of my own energy medicine. I chose to honour my sensitive body, walk away from the laptop and do the practices that I know work for my body and spirit when I am in this unpleasant state.
Important: I never make myself wrong for feeling like this. The way I felt is a very natural and human response to having a sensitive and alive body.
I know that sensitivity towards myself will show me the way, so I call on my practice to move what I feel to nurture myself, and I trust that the words will come when I can hear my inner voice more clearly.
That day I found a place of compassion for myself and my nervous system. It became clear that I cannot be creative when my system is overwhelmed. I need to self soothe and pick a practice that will best support me at this time.
Sensitivity is like a doorway to my intuition and bigger wisdom opens as I clearly feel and perceive what I am experiencing, and I know that I can trust the answers that come from this space.
Learning to turn down the noise to feel relaxed and safe in the body is key.
Essentially you dial down the external static and tune into the internal signal.
I do this work so that I can create this space for you, in the midst of your challenges and hopes, to feel safe and inspired so you can enhance your sensitivity to feel your body and inner guidance and be in alignment with your true nature. Being sensitive to my clients' bodies and energy means I have an awareness and reverence of the wisdom that comes from their lived experience being in their unique body. My work is about creating a safe, sensitive and sacred space for all bodies to feel relaxed, release and then be enlivened and energised.
That space is available to all of us, with courage, work and commitment.
